Unilorite wins global veterinary scholarship award

A student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ilorin, Mr Oluwagbemiga Ojobaro, has won the 2025 WVA/MSD Veterinary Student Scholarship in a contest that attracted the participation of over 1,000 veterinary students across the world.
The scholarship, which carries a cash award of 5,000 US dollars, is a highly competitive global initiative established by the World Veterinary Association (WVA) in collaboration with MSD Animal Health to promote advancements in Animal Health.
This development was disclosed in a memo addressed to the Vice Chancellor, dated March 9, 2026 and signed by the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dr O. A. Ahmed.
According to the memo, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin last Wednesday(April 15, 2026), Mr Ojobaro distinguished himself by emerging as one of the winners from a pool of 1,064 applicants drawn from Colleges of Veterinary Medicine across the world.
Reacting, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, saluted the performance of the Unilorite, saying that the University is very delighted with his performance.
The Vice Chancellor, who spoke through the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, enjoined other students of the University to emulate the awardee.
