Unilorite emerges Law School’s best graduating student

A graduate of the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, Mr Israel Adekunle Adeniyi, has emerged the 2026 Best Graduating Student at the Nigerian Law School.
Mr Adeniyi’s latest feat crowns a series of exceptional academic accomplishments that have distinguished him from his peers since his secondary school days through University and the Nigerian Law School.
He had earlier in 2024 graduated from the University of Ilorin with a First Class Honours degree, emerging as the Best Graduating Student (BGS) of the Faculty of Law with a CGPA of 4.83, the highest ever recorded in the history of the Faculty.
Mr Adeniyi enrolled at the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School, where he once again distinguished himself academically by emerging as the overall Best Graduating Student.
His exceptional academic trajectory, from secondary school to the university and the Nigerian Law School, has attracted widespread commendation from members of the legal profession and education stakeholders who described his achievements as a source of pride for Kwara State and Nigeria.
Reacting to the development, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, Prof. Bashiru Adeniyi Omipidan, described the achievement as unprecedented, noting that it was the second time the Faculty would produce the overall best graduating student of the Nigerian Law School.
He added that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, was also delighted with the remarkable feat.
In a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin, Prof. Omipidan described the exceptional performance as one of the greatest achievements in the history of the Faculty, which further strengthen the reputation of the University.
The Medical Law and Ethics expert attributed the success to the dedication of the Faculty’s academic staff, the supportive environment created by the University Administration and the determination of the students to excel, saying that the achievement further validates the quality of legal education offered by the University.
Speaking on his achievement, Mr Adeniyi expressed gratitude to God for His grace throughout his academic journey. He also appreciated his parents for their unwavering support, prayers and sacrifices.
Mr Adeniyi, who spoke in a telephone chat with UNILORIN Bulletin, also commended the University of Ilorin for providing him with a solid academic foundation through quality legal education, effective mentorship and a culture of excellence. He noted that the values he acquired at the institution prepared him for the outstanding accomplishment at the Law School.
