UNILORIN VTH’s Director’s daughter weds

Penultimate Saturday, (June 13, 2026) was another great day for the family of the Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ibrahim Adisa Raufu, as he gave out his daughter, former Miss Aishat Ibrahim, in holy matrimony to her heartthrob, Mr Jamiu Yusuf.
The event, which held at Peace Hotel, Tanke, Ilorin, was attended by relations, friends and colleagues of the parents and the couple.
Performing the solemnisation, a renowned cleric, Mallam Lukman Mukthar Isalekoto, advised the new couple to embrace the institution of marriage with understanding and love as well as the determination to build and sustain an enviable family.
The cleric, who is also a staff member of the Bursary Department of the University, explained that all the interactions they have had before the solemnisation were mere preparations for the real marital life, which,he said, had begun with the event.
He explained that the couple would henceforth be exposed to the real life of marriage.
While encouraging the couple to be truthful, patient and loyal to each other, the cleric advised them not to allow unnecessary interference from others as he said that for as long as they adhere strictly to the teachings of the Glorious Quran and the traditions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, they would overcome every challenge that may crop up in their marital life.
The cleric equally congratulated the parents and families of the couple for living to witness the marriage of their children as he enjoined them to always support the couple with their experiences through life and constant prayers for them to have a wonderful marital life.
The ceremony was attended by a Member of the University Governing Council, Mr AbdulRasheed Gidado Dauda; the Registrar of the University, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla; a former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali; the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Saliu Akanni Ameen; the Director of the University Health Services, Dr Rasheed Adekeye Odunola; former Deans of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. S. O. Salami and Prof. M. A. Raji. Also in attendance were a former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Kwara State University, Malete, Prof. A. G. F. Alabi; the Kwara State Director of Veterinary Services, Dr Abdulateef Olugbon; (the Chairman of the Kwara State Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Dr (Mrs) Idiat Omolola; the District Head of Ballah in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, Prince Kolapo Aliyu Abdulkadir; the Chief Imam of Yaba Polytechnic, Lagos, Alhaji Raji Abdulahafeez; and the Imam of Idigba-Oke Mosque, Ilorin, who is also an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin, Dr AbdulGaniyu Tijani.
The event also attracted a former Director of Works, University of Ilorin, Engr. Sanni; Mrs Felicia and Mr Wale Adebomi, staff members of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), University of Ilorin Health Services, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, members of the Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, the Odiwo, Baale Gogo, Oluokun and Oluoro families of Offa, members of Idigba and Okelele communities, among several other well-wishers from far and near who came to celebrate the joyous occasion with the couple and their families.
