UNILORIN UECF records milestones in capacity building, welfare

The Acting Chairman of the Universities Executives’ Cadres’ Forum (UECF), University of Ilorin Chapter, Mr Mohamed Jamiu Galadima, has commended members of the Forum for their unwavering commitment to promoting professional excellence, capacity building, and the welfare of members.
Mr Galadima made the commendation penultimate Thursday (July 23, 2026) while speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin at the just concluded Leadership Conference organised by the Centre for Leadership and Management, Ilorin.
He noted that through the collective efforts of the Executive Committee and the unwavering support of members, the Forum recorded remarkable achievements in training, advocacy, and member engagement within a relatively short period.
According to him, one of the major accomplishments of the Forum was the successful organisation of a series of promotion tutorial sessions designed to prepare members for the University’s promotion exercise. He explained that the tutorials covered general promotion requirements, interview techniques, and Computer-Based Test (CBT) practice, thereby equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence required for career advancement.
Mr Galadima added that the Forum consistently held regular meetings where issues affecting members were discussed, decisions taken, and strategies for improving the activities of the Forum were developed.
Speaking on professional development, he explained that the Forum actively encouraged members to participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, and other capacity-building programmes by providing timely information on available opportunities. He noted that members also received guidance on registration procedures, payment arrangements, and the career benefits associated with such programmes.
On financial management, the Acting Chairman stated that the Forum maintained a transparent and accountable financial system. He disclosed that the funds were judiciously utilised to support promotion tutorials, administrative activities, and other approved initiatives aimed at advancing the objectives of the Forum.
Among other achievements recorded during the year, Mr Galadima listed improved awareness of professional development opportunities among members, strengthened unity, cooperation, and participation, sustained transparency and accountability in financial reporting, as well as enhanced communication between the Executive Committee and members.
Despite these successes, he acknowledged that the Forum encountered some challenges, including irregular payment of monthly dues by a few members, limited financial resources for additional developmental programmes, and scheduling constraints arising from members’ official responsibilities.
He, however, assured members that the Executive Committee remains committed to addressing these challenges through increased member engagement, improved compliance with financial obligations, and the introduction of more impactful programmes.
Looking ahead, Mr Galadima said the Forum would continue to organise capacity-building programmes and promotion tutorials, encourage greater participation in professional conferences and training, strengthen members’ commitment to the prompt payment of monthly dues, promote transparency, accountability and good governance, and foster unity, mutual support, and professional networking among members.
