UNILORIN TV shines at national contest

It was another victorious outing for the University of Ilorin last Thursday (August 13, 2026) as its television outfit took the second position at this year’s edition of the National Spokesman Award held in Abuja.
The better by far television station emerged the runner-up in the corporate communication category of the contest, in which several other online campus television stations across Nigeria also participated.
The award was received on behalf of the station by the Chairman of the UNILORIN Television Management Board, Prof. Solomon O. Ikibe, who was supported by one of the staff members of the station, Ms Precious Okeowo.
The Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin and Council Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, who was the Chairman of the 2026 National Spokesman’s Award; and Dr Yau Sule Yau were among the dignitaries that attended the event.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has commended the Chairman and members of the Television Management Board as well as staff members of the station for making the University proud.
In a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that the University is impressed that the station has excelled in a national contest.
While congratulating the Management Board headed by Prof. Solomon O. Ikibe and the previous Board under the Chairmanship of Prof. Abdulbaqi, the Vice Chancellor urged the station to continue to work towards enhancing its service delivery.
He assured the station of more support from the management and staff of the University in its efforts to attain more greatness.
