UNILORIN to collaborate with ESANAD Consult on media coverage, fact-checking

The University of Ilorin has expressed its readiness to collaborate with ESANAD Consult Ltd on media coverage, ethical fact-checking, training, and other information-related initiatives aimed at strengthening communication and public information management at the University.
The Director of Corporate Affairs of the University, Mr Kunle Akogun, disclosed this last Tuesday (August 11, 2026), when a delegation from ESANAD Consult Ltd visited him in his office to formally introduce the company and explore possible areas of strategic collaboration with the Directorate.
Mr Akogun described the University as a centre of public attention, noting that the institution’s prominence naturally attracts interests, positive and negative, from members of the public.
He said, “Only a ripe fruit attracts people’s attention,” explaining that the University’s visibility and reputation often make people look for flaws in its activities.
He also commended the efforts of ESANAD Consult in promoting credible information and described its activities as a form of community service that is “visible and laudable.”
Mr Akogun further applauded the Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulwahab Egbewole, SAN, for his commitment to the restructuring and development of the institution, particularly in the area of transportation.
According to him, although the initial stage of the transportation restructuring was challenging for members of the University community, the results have become encouraging and pleasing.
He likened the development to the eventual benefits of fuel subsidy reforms in the country, stressing that the challenges associated with meaningful development are often necessary to achieve sustainable results, adding that, “No pain, no gain.”
Earlier, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ESANAD Consult Ltd, Mr AbdulGaniyu Yusuf Opeyemi, explained that the company was a product of an academic research project he undertook as part of his Master’s degree programme in the Department of Religions, University of Ilorin.
Mr Yusuf described ESANAD Consult as an ethical information management company committed to promoting truth, trust and transparency through recruitment services, professional training, media publication and education-related information dissemination.
He said the company, through its ESANAD Media platform and news blog, had consistently published fact-checked education-related stories, including factual information on issues concerning the University of Ilorin.
The CEO identified several areas of possible collaboration with the University, including media coverage of university events, ethical fact-checking, training of staff and students, internship opportunities for students, particularly those studying Mass Communication, recruitment services and other information and communication-related activities.
He stressed that the partnership would provide opportunities for students to gain practical experience while also strengthening the dissemination of credible information about the University.
Also speaking, Babaijo Otepola Adeolu Adetoye (JP), a former Deputy Director at the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Kwara State Office, and a member of the Advisory Board of ESANAD Consult Ltd, emphasised the importance of protecting the image and reputation of the University of Ilorin.
He noted that the University had an image to protect, while some individuals were constantly searching for loopholes in its activities.
According to him, a partnership between the University and ESANAD Consult would help to sustain the institution’s image, promote credible information and maintain its standards.
“Unilorin has an image to protect while some weak minds are always on the lookout for the institution’s loopholes. ESANAD will help project the image of Unilorin and keep the standard moving,” he said.
