UNILORIN SSANU celebrates ex-Registrar, Olowoleni on birthday, retirement

As the immediate past Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Dr Folaranmi Modupe Olowoleni, marked her 65th birthday and consequent retirement from the services of the University penultimate Sunday (April 19, 2026), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), UNILORIN Branch, has paid glowing tributes to her for her exceptional leadership skills and remarkable services to the Better by far University.
This commendation is contained in a congratulatory message sent by the Association to the former Registrar last Monday (April 20, 2026).
In the statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mrs Damilola Afelumo, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin, the Association said that Dr Olowoleni deserved to be celebrated for her numerous qualitative contributions to the growth of the University.
The statement said that Dr Olowoleni’s “years of dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to duty have left a legacy that will continue to inspire us all”.
It added that through every challenge, Dr Olowoleni stood tall for excellence, welfare, and the true spirit of service.
The statement stressed further that SSANU is proud to have had a comrade, mentor, and pillar in the former Registrar.
It said that the Association was not celebrating “an ending, but the beginning of well-earned rest, peace, and new adventures” for the former Registrar.
SSANU wished Dr Olowoleni a retirement life filled with sound health, joy, and the fulfillment of dreams she “set aside while serving others,”
Dr Olowoleni, who served as the Registrar and Secretary to Governing Council of the University from 2018 to 2023, was also the second female to hold the position in the five decades of the University. She took over from Mr Emmanuel Dada Obafemi, and was succeeded by the incumbent, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla.
