In line with the Vision 1:10:500 of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the University of Ilorin will host the Maiden Sensitization Workshop for the Nigerian Young Academy (NYA), in collaboration with the Nigerian National Academies.
The landmark workshop is scheduled to take place on Tuesday November 3, 2026 at the University Auditorium beginning at 10.00 a.m.
The workshop, themed “Developing Academic Excellence for Impact in the 21st Century: The Roles of National Academies”, is designed to inspire, mentor, and connect the next generation of scholars with the nation’s most distinguished academic bodies.
It will bring together young academics, mentors, postgraduate students, final-year undergraduates, teaching and non-teaching staff, Fellows of the Nigerian Academies, academics from sister universities, and members of the KU8+ Consortium.
The chief host of the event is the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, while the co-host is Prof. Temitope Elizabeth Odetoye, FNYA, Chair, UNILORIN-NYA Taskforce.
According to the organisers, the workshop will provide a rare platform for young scholars at UNILORIN and beyond to understand the workings, opportunities, and responsibilities of the National Academies, and how academic excellence can be translated into national development and global impact.
The event is expected to deepen mentorship, strengthen research collaboration, and position UNILORIN as a hub for grooming future Fellows of the nation’s prestigious Academies.
