UNILORIN FM honours ex-volunteer, Oyesola

The UNILORIN 89.3 FM last Monday (April 13, 2026) organised a send-off in honour of one of its most dedicated volunteer staff members, Mr Femi Oyesola, who recently left to join the services of a Lagos-based media outfit.

Speaking at the event that was held at the Boardroom of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, the Head of the Directorate, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that Mr Oyesola’s departure would be a huge loss to the radio station.

Mr Akogun commended the dedication, creativity, and passion for broadcasting displayed by Mr Oyesola throughout his stay at the radio station, spanning eight years.

The veteran journalist and consummate Public Relations practitioner added that the honoree is also a team player who always puts the station’s interests first.

In his remarks, the  Station Manager, Mr Idris Akintola Ibrahim (Alooma), acknowledged Mr Oyesola’s commitment and service delivery, saying, “Femi has been an invaluable asset to UNILORIN FM. His exceptional skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure have made him a standout volunteer.”

The ace broadcaster added that he is very  proud of the work Mr Oyesola did and wished him the best in his future endeavours.

Also speaking, Mrs Damilola Afelumo, who heads the Yoruba Unit, where Mr Oyesola served,  expressed satisfaction with his professionalism and enthusiasm to work throughout his stay.

Responding, Mr Oyesola, who was visibly delighted, expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying that he was humbled by the gesture.

Mr Oyesola said, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to have served UNILORIN FM. I’ve learnt a lot and grown as a person”.

He also praised the station’s conducive environment, saying that it had helped him to develop his skills and confidence.
