UNILORIN dons advocate digital transformation, crisis communication and Preventive Maintenance

Two University of Ilorin lecturers have called for greater adoption of digital tools, strategic communication, and preventive maintenance to improve service delivery and institutional performance.
The charge was made at a five-day conference organised by the University Management held in Idofian,Kwara state.
The facilitators were Dr Saheed Bello of the Department of Physics and Dr Felicia Oluwalola of the Department of Educational Management.
Dr Bello urged staff to embrace technology to reduce paperwork and improve turnaround time. According to him, technology is key to sustaining UNILORIN status as one of the nation’s leading ivory towers.
On her part, Dr Oluwalola recommended issuance of provisional transcripts with cover letters while fee queries are being resolved, to prevent students from losing opportunities.
She outlined steps including notifying students, escalating the matter to the Bursary, informing receiving institutions, and documenting all actions to balance student welfare with financial integrity.
Dr Oluwalola advocated a shift from reactive repairs to proactive maintenance. She noted that regular servicing reduces costs, extends the lifespan of assets, ensures continuity in classrooms, laboratories, hostels, and ICT facilities, and enhances the University’s image.
