UNILORIN don appointed to American Scientific Advisory Board

A lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, University of Ilorin, Dr Oluwafemi Batatunde Daodu, has been appointed a member of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) to the Morris Animal Foundation, Colorado, United States of America.
The appointment of Dr Daodu was conveyed in a letter dated July 16, 2026, addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole SAN, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin.
As a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, Dr Daodu will be saddled with the responsibility of rigorously reviewing and scoring Veterinary Student Scholar (VSS) proposals submitted to the Foundation, along with other Board members.
He will also join his colleagues on the Board to assess the technical feasibility, scientific merit, and potential impact of each proposal and provide constructive feedback to applicants to strengthen their research.
According to the letter: the recommendations of the SAB are used to select students to receive up to $5,500 in funding for 3-4 month mentored research projects. This ensures that the Foundation funds the most scientifically sound and impactful student research projects.
The letter also noted that the SAB is made up of a diverse group of global experts in the fields of pathology, epidemiology, and internal medicine.
On the significance of the appointment, the letter stated that “this ultimately plays a vital role in training the next generation of veterinary researchers and advancing animal health.”
Dr Daodu is a Fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeons of Nigeria (FCVSN).
