Dr. Marili F. Zubair, is a Natural Products/Medicinal Chemist. She was the best graduating student during her B.Sc. and M.Sc. Degree programme in Chemistry in 1996 and 2001 respectively at Bayero University, Kano. She obtained her PhD in Chemistry (2011) from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Nigeria. Her current research interest encompasses characterization, modification, biological evaluations and application of underutilized seeds wasting in the environment. She has accumulated about nineteen years of continuous teaching and research experience in the University system and attained the rank of Reader in 2019. She was a co-investigator of TWAS Research Grant Award in Development, Characterization and Evaluation of Natural skin and hair care products from Nigerian under-utilized tropical seed Grant Amount won: 58,000 USD. Award No. 15 244RG/CHE/AF/AC_G-FR3240287031. She equally won Michael Collins Prize for Best Graduating Student in Chemistry Bayero University, Kano in 1996, 1998/1999 Federal Government of Nigeria Postgraduate Scholarship for M.Sc. Research in Chemistry tenable at Bayero University Kano, Nigeria, 2005/2006 Staff Development Award for Ph.D. Research in Chemistry tenable at LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Nigeria and 2006/2007 Graduate Scholarship award by the Kwara State Government of Nigeria. She has authored more than twenty-five peer reviewed journal articles in international journal of repute and she is a seasoned reviewer to some reputable Journals such as JOTCS etc. Her research output has been presented in local and international research scientific gathering. She is the deputy-director Central Research Laboratory, University of Ilorin, Secretary, Committee for Drafting Departmental Postgraduate (PG) Programmes, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Nigeria. 2018 during her sabbatical. Chairperson, Departmental Staff Social Welfare Committee, Department of Industrial Chemistry, University of llorin, Nigeria. 2016 – 2018, Member, Book writing/Publication Committee Department of Industrial Chemistry, University of Ilorin. 2016- date, Member, Ethical Research Committee, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin. 2016- date. She is a member of several committees within and outside the university system. She is also a member of reputable national and international professional and academic bodies such as Institute of Chartered Chemist of Nigeria, (ICCON), Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), etc. She currently teaches and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria.
