ADMISSION REQUIREMENT: B.Sc (Hons.) INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY
(i) Direct Entry: GCE ‘A’ level passes or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. In addition, candidate must have school certificate GCE ‘O’ Level credit or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and English Language.
(ii) UTME: Five ‘O’ Level credits in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and English Language at not more than two sittings. The UTME subjects are English Language, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Candidates who have successfully completed the pre-Degree programme of the University of Ilorin are also admitted into 100 level of the programme.
Programme/ Sub discipline structure includes period of formal studies in the University, Industrial training, planned visit and projects.


(i) Programme Structure
Students admitted through UTME run a 4-year degree programme while those admitted through the direct entry run 3-year degree programme. Students carry a normal load of 36 credits per session. Students take their required courses from Zoology, Plant Biology, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics. A student must pass a minimum of 133 credits (4-year programme) or 102 credits (3-year programme) in order to graduate. The University specified required courses i.e. General Studies and Graduate Self Employment must be passed.
ii. Industrial Attachment
Industrial Chemistry students undergo a single-tier 6 months industrial attachment after the First Semester of their 3rd year. The training is for the duration of the Second Semester and the long vacation period. This is done under close supervision of a Departmental Co-coordinator and a University Co-coordinator. The logbooks and written reports of such students are assessed and graded.
iii. Planned Visits
At 400 levels, students are made to visit chemical based establishments such as Breweries, Pharmaceutical Industries, Water treatment plants etc. in order to complete the theoretical and laboratory practicals in some courses.
