SSANU pledges better welfare for members

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Ilorin Branch, has reiterated its commitment to securing improved welfare for its membersĀ as it expressed optimism on its ongoing engagement with the Federal Government.
Speaking at a Congress of the Association last Wednesday (April 22, 2026) held at the SSANU Secretariat, the Chairman of the Branch, Mr Naheem Olushola Falowo, assured the SSANU members that the Association would continue to work for improved welfare package.
He noted that the demand currently tabled by the Association before the Federal Government reflects the current economic realities and it is aimed at ensuring better productivity.
Mr Falowo, who is a staff member of the Bursary Department of the University, urged members to be hopeful that discussions with the government would lead to a mutually beneficial resolution before the end of the month.
Also speaking, the SSANU National Treasurer, Mr Muhammad Tunde Akanbi, stated that the desire for better remuneration represents the collective position of members across the country.
He described the demand as a reasonable step towards aligning workers’ take-home pay with the prevailing cost of living.
Mr Akanbi, who is a Deputy Bursar at the University, noted that consultations and dialogue with relevant authorities are ongoing and expressed confidence that a positive resolution would be achieved at the end of the day.
The Congress was attended by SSANU members from across the University.
