Serve well, Jawondo tasks colleagues

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulganiyu Jawondo, has urged staff members of the Faculty who have been assigned one role or the other by either the Faculty or the University to serve very well.
Prof. Jawondo gave the charge last Tuesday (August 18, 2026) in a congratulatory message he sent to all the appointees, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin.
The Dean, who is also a former Director of the Centre for Ilorin Studies, University of Ilorin, said that they should use the opportunities provided them to prove their leadership qualities.
While appreciating their dedication to duties and excellent performance in both academic and administrative responsibilities, the Dean encouraged the appointees never to rest on their oars.
Prof. Jawondo, who previously served as the Head of the Department of History and International Studies and Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, reminded both the new and old appointees that the reward for outstanding performance is renewed engagement.
While he urged those either reappointed or given new responsibilities to aim higher in their new roles, the Dean encouraged new appointees to draw lessons from their senior colleagues so they can make indelible marks in their various responsibilities.
Prof. Jawondo thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and his management team for the opportunities availed several members of the Faculty as he wished the appointees successful tenures.
