PADA honours two UNILORIN dons

The Pakata Area Development Association (PADA), a Community Development Association in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, penultimate Saturday (May 30, 2026), conferred an Award of Excellence on the Director, Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre (TEC), University of Ilorin, Prof. Usman Adebimpe Raheem; and the Head of the Department of the Performing and Film Arts, Dr Shadiat Olabisi O. Shuaib.
The event, which was held at the Pakata Multipurpose Hall, Ita-Uma area, Ilorin, was part of this year’s edition of the annual interactive session organised by the people of the Pakata Community, Ilorin.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Association, Mr Murtala Alowonle, said that the two UNILORIN dons were honoured for their versatility and exemplary contributions to the development of the community and humanity at large.
Mr Alowonle noted that the people of Pakata community were always excited with the excellent leadership qualities of Prof. Raheem before and after his tenure as the Chairman of the University of Ilorin Branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). He equally remarked that the community had also been very impressed with the fascinating performances of Dr Shuaib as a teacher and mentor of many who are doing very well in their various vocations, particularly in the film and entertainment industry.
While encouraging other indigenes of the community working at the University and in other places to emulate the sterling qualities of the two senior academics, Mr Alowonle tasked the honourees on the need to improve on their service delivery impacts in order for them to earn more recognitions and divine grace.
The community leader assured the two scholars and other recipients of the prayers and support of the community as they make the nation and humanity proud in their various sectors.
The event was attended by many dignitaries including the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED), Ilorin, Prof. Medinat Folorunso Salman; a forming Ag. Registrar of the Kwara State University, Malete, Mr Mohammed Jibola Shuaib; the Deputy Director, Student Work Industrial Experience Scheme (SWIES), Mr Suleiman Kola Abdulsalam and the University Estate Officer and Deputy Director (Works), Dr Bolakale Sahid Baba, among several others.
