Onireti hails Egbewole’s internationalisation drive

The Director of the Centre for Internationalisation  and Strategic Partnership, University of Ilorin, Prof. Lateef Onireti Ibraheem, has commended the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, on his relentless pursuit of internationalisation drive for the benefit of the University.

Prof. Onireti gave this commendation last Wednesday (June 3, 2026) while featuring on ‘Table Talk’, a current affairs programme of  UNILORIN 89.3 FM. The programme was jointly-anchored by the Station Manager, Mr Idris Akintola Ibrahim and Mr Tope Olawuyi.

The Director, who teaches at the Department of Arabic and Transnational Studies, explained that the Vice Chancellor has done a lot in that regard since the beginning of his tenure in 2022.

He said that the University has not remained the same as it has been working and partnering on many fronts with sister foreign universities and visiting scholars.

The Director explained that the internationalisation drive has exposed many staff members of the University to what is obtainable in universities outside Nigeria and brought many universities to the better by far University.

Prof. Onireti, who was at the studio with a delegation from Mykolas Romeris University, Lithuania, consisting of the Head of the International Office, Mrs Audra Dargytė Burokienė; the Head of the International Partnerships Unit of the International Office, Mrs Alina Juškienė and a  Professor of Law, Vaidas Jurkevičius, said that he was not surprised with what the Vice Chancellor had achieved because he had served as a Desk Officer at the Centre in the past.

On their part, the visiting scholars said that they were impressed with the beautiful landscape of the campus. They said that the University is a reflection of pure nature.

They also noted that most of the buildings in the University are like an auditorium, saying that the surrounding was also very extraordinary.

The foreign scholars, who thanked the management of the University for its fraternity and open-mindedness, said that the students of the University are very intelligent and brilliant.
