The Ag. Head of the Department of Architecture, University of Ilorin, Dr Sule Adeniyi Olaniyan, has emphasised the need for consistent practical exposure among the students of the Department.

Dr Olaniyan stated this penultimate Friday (July 17, 2026) while addressing the students of the Department during their on-site visitation to some ongoing building projects in the University.

The Ag. Head of Department, who was represented by the Chairman of the Site Visitation Committee of the Department, Mr AbdulAzeez Salihu, urged the students to always be attentive and open their minds to learning, saying that the study of Architecture does not end in the four walls of a classroom.

Dr Olaniyan said that architectural design is always the foundation of every building project and that the progress of building projects must always be closely monitored and supervised by Architects and other building professionals to ensure that such projects are executed to specifications.

He also urged the students to always find time to visit ongoing projects and ask professionals on ground necessary questions as that would enhance their training and prepare them for the future.

Dr Olaniyan was joined on the visitation by some other staff members of the Department such as Mr A. B. Salihu, Mr A. A. Adeyemi, Mrs M. A.  Abdulsalam, Mrs A. Yusuf and Mr A. O. Olaleye.
