Karim reappointed as Fountain Varsity VC

A former Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, has been reappointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Fountain University,Osogbo
The decision was taken at the 67th meeting of the Governing Council of the University held last Monday (September 21, 2026).
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Registrar of the University, Mr Sheriff Adeyemi Adenekan, saying that Prof. Karim, who was first appointed in 2022, will continue to run the University till February 28, 2031.
The Registrar explained that the reappointment was sequel to the Council’s careful consideration of the Vice Chancellor’s achievements, breakthroughs and initiatives during her first tenure.
The Council, according to the Registrar, noted that Karim, who is the first female Vice Chancellor of the University, had overseen what it described as a period of significant transformation at the faith-based University.
He added that the Council highlighted infrastructural expansion, accreditation of academic programmes, introduction of new programmes, increased student enrolment, improved global partnerships, improved staff welfare and efforts to deepen the University’s Islamic identity among other achievements recorded under her leadership.
The Council said the reappointment was aimed at ensuring continuity and consolidating the gains recorded during her first tenure.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has welcomed the reappointment of Prof. Karim.
In a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that he was not surprised about the development as Prof. Karim has always proved her resourcefulness, agility and industry.
Prof. Egbewole described Prof. Karim as a golden ambassador of the University of Ilorin, saying that the Better by far University would continue to be very proud of her.
Prof. Egbewole wished Prof. Karim a more rewarding and fulfilling second term in office.
