Imam-Fulani, UNILORIN don, shines at global arena

A Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physiology, University of Ilorin, Dr Aminat Omolola Imam-Fulani, has bagged an outstanding research award.
The award, which was conferred on Dr Imam-Fulani for her intellectual productivity, was offered under the umbrella of the Global Association on the Study of Neurodegenerative Disease (GASND) and it was premised on her finding, titled, “Regulation of regulatory T cells modulate amyloid pathology and microglial activation in mouse model of Alzheimer’s Disease”, which she delivered at the 6th International Research Conference on Neurodegenerative Disease (IRCND) hosted by the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, United States of America, last month.
In a telephone chat with UNILORIN Bulletin on the development, Dr Imam-Fulani expressed appreciation to the authorities of the University of Ilorin for the opportunity she was granted to participate in the postdoctoral programme.
Dr Imam-Fulani, who is also an alumnus of the University of Ilorin, said that as part of her commitment to give back to her ancestral community and humanity at large, she has established a Foundation that would provide awareness and support towards preventing brain diseases especially Traumatic Brain Injury in Ilorin.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated Dr Imam-Fulani for earning the award and making the University very proud.
In a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that the management, staff and students of the University are very proud of Dr Imam-Fulani’s achievements.
While describing Dr Imam-Fulani as a distinguished alumnae and prolific staff member of the University, Prof. Egbewole urged her to continue to make the University proud by ensuring excellence in all she does as he encouraged others to emulate her dexterity.
The Vice Chancellor wished Dr Imam-Fulani a more successful and rewarding career.
