I ‘m always proud of UNILORIN-Echono

The Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arc. Sonny Echono, has said that he is always very proud to be associated with the University of Ilorin.
Arc. Echono stated this last Monday (August 17,2026) while making his remarks at a special homecoming ceremony organised by the University in honour of the immediate past Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Emeritus Is,haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON,at the University Auditorium.
The event also witnessed the presentation of different categories of awards to some alumni and friends of University including the founder of the Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Chief AbdulRaheem Oladimeji, OFR; and three Vice Chancellors.
The Executive Secretary, who was the Chairman of the occasion, described the University of Ilorin as an institution of first choice in Nigeria.
Arc. Echono said that the University is unique with its leadership succession arrangement, which has led to the production of fantastic leaders of the University over the years.
He added that the annual celebration of worthy individuals, particularly alumni of the University, is another area which the University has been positively impacting on the society.
He added that the programme does not only celebrate excellent dispositions of the honourees but also would also encourage others to emulate them.
Arc. Echono, who retired as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, encouraged students of the University and others to emulate the honourees, particularly a former Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Emeritus Oloyede, who has continued to make the University and the nation proud as an epitome of service, selflessness and integrity.
The TETFund boss, who is a former President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) expressed profound conviction in the ability of the University to produce leaders who will work with others towards taking Nigeria to the promised land.
