Egbewole mourns late MKU’s proprietor

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has expressed profound sadness on the death of Khalifa Adabiyyin and proprietor of the Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University (MKU), Ilorin, Shaykh Abdulkadir Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adabiy. The cleric died last Friday (May 29,2026) at the age of 83 years.

In a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that the death of the proprietor at this point-in-time is a monumental loss not only to the MKU and the Ilorin Emirate community but also to the entire Muslim world.

The Vice Chancellor described the late cleric as a gentle, amiable and exemplary scholar and community leader who always preached peace and mutual understanding.

Prof. Egbewole recalled the efforts of the late Shaykh Kamalud-Deen in ensuring the take-off of the MKU, saying that his involvement has led to the steady progress being recorded by the MKU under the guidance of the University of Ilorin.

The Vice Chancellor, who is also the Convener and Chairman of the Consortium of Kwara Universities (KU8+) assured stakeholders that despite the death of the late Shaykh the University of Ilorin would continue to support MKU to attain maturity and destined greatness.

Prof. Egbewole coomisserated with the government and people of Kwara State as well as the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR on the death of the great cleric. He also sympathised with the Vice Chancellor of MKU, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, staff and students of the young university and the entire members of the Ansarul Islam Society worldwide.

The Vice Chancellor prayed Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late cleric and admit his gentle soul into Aljanat Fridaous. He also prayed to Allah to grant his relations, friends and colleagues the fortitude to bear his demise.
