Egbewole appreciates Senate, BCoS, as 2025/2026 session formally ends

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has appreciated the Business Committee of the Senate (BCoS), the Senate Office, the Deans of the various Faculties, Heads of Department, Level Advisers and lecturers as well as all non-teaching staff of the University for their contributions towards the successful completion of the 2025/2026 academic session.
Prof. Egbewole made the commendation last Friday (September 18, 2026) in his remarks at the Senate Luncheon held at the Multipurpose Hall to mark the end of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, who is also the Chairman of the Senate, commended the Chairman of the Business Committee of Senate (BCOS), Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola, and members of the Committee for their contributions to the successful completion of the academic processes.
Prof. Egbewole also appreciated the Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, Level Advisers and lecturers for their efforts in ensuring that academic activities proceeded smoothly throughout the session.
He particularly acknowledged the contributions of the Senate Office, under the leadership of the Deputy Registrar, Mrs Taiwo Afolayan, stating that the various academic processes would not have been successfully completed without the support of the Senate Secretariat.
The Vice Chancellor urged members of the academic community to continue to improve the processes and systems of the institution, noting that Senate had considered several issues aimed at strengthening the University’s operations.
While mentioning the University’s transition to a paperless system as one of the improvements recorded, he expressed hope that further innovations would be introduced to enhance efficiency and ensure effective delivery of the mandate of the University.
Prof. Egbewole urged members of staff to use the break to rest and return in October with renewed vigour, while reminding them that the successful completion of one session meant that there was more work ahead. He said, “You have done so much, and the reward for hard work is more work. So, be ready for more work while we thank you for what you have done.”
Speaking earlier, the Registrar of the University, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, commended the Vice Chancellor for his leadership and the innovations introduced into the administrative processes of the University.
Mr Alfanla described the Vice Chancellor’s coordination of Senate sessions as impressive, noting that his contributions had made the meetings rich and productive. He said that several centres had been established with the approval of Senate and concurrence of Council, while the regular updates on the University’s ranking had also become a notable innovation.
The Registrar also commended the introduction of the Memo Manager, describing it as a smart system designed to make administrative processes easier and more efficient.
According to him, the system would reduce the loss of correspondence in transit, while enabling staff to monitor the movement of their mails and identify where correspondence was being held up.
Mr Alfanla said, “The Vice Chancellor has demonstrated a very high level of leadership strength”, urging members of Senate to continue to support him in his efforts to transform the University.
He also commended the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola, and other members of the Senate leadership and Secretariat for their efforts toward the successful completion of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Registrar appreciated members of Senate for their thorough consideration of minutes presented at meetings, noting that corrections were mostly limited to attendance rather than the substance of the minutes.
He assured members that the Registry and Senate Secretariat would continue to improve their services in the 2026/2027 academic session, expressing confidence that members of Senate would have further reasons to appreciate their efforts.
On his part, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences and Chairman of the Committee of Deans and Provosts (CoPD), Prof. Muhammed A.N. Adeboye, who spoke through the Dean of Clinical Sciences, Prof. Kolawole Wasiu Wahab, commended the Vice Chancellor and the University Management for their support throughout the 2025/2026 academic session.
Prof. Adeboye particularly appreciated the Vice Chancellor for the unanticipated end-of-session gift of brand-new cars to the Deans and Provost, describing the gesture as a pleasant surprise and a motivation for the beneficiaries to remain more committed to the service of the University.
The Provost expressed gratitude to Prof. Egbewole and the University Management, while praying that the 2026/2027 academic session would be even more successful than the outgoing session.
