Don hails DCA on support for students

The Acting Head of the Department of Telecommunication Science, University of Ilorin, Dr O. A. Tiamiyu, has commended the efforts of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs (DCA) in promoting the academic activities and achievements of students across the University.
Dr Tiamiyu gave the commendation last Monday (September 14,2026) during his visit to the Directorate where he acknowledged the Directorate’s commitment to publicising academic programmes, research activities, students’ achievements, and other initiatives aimed at enhancing the image of the University.
He described the Directorate of Corporate Affairs as an important link between the University and its various stakeholders, noting that effective communication and publicity were essential to showcasing the institution’s academic excellence and developmental strides.
According to him, the continuous coverage and promotion of academic activities by the Directorate have contributed to creating greater awareness of the efforts of students and staff, while also projecting the positive image of the University to the wider society.
Dr Tiamiyu further emphasised the importance of collaboration between academic Departments and the DCA in ensuring that the achievements and contributions of the University Community receive appropriate recognition.
He, therefore, encouraged the Directorate to sustain its efforts in promoting academic excellence, supporting students’ intellectual development, and projecting the commitment of the University of Ilorin to quality education and research.
The don reaffirmed the readiness of the Department of Telecommunication Science to support initiatives that would strengthen communication, academic development, and the overall progress of the University.
While speaking about the weather forecasting equipment, valued at approximately half a million naira, which was donated to UNILORIN 89.3 FM, by students of the Department. Dr Tiamiyu noted that the Quadrifilar Helix Antenna System would enable the radio station to provide its listeners with first-hand, accurate, and consistent weather reports.
Dr Tiamiyu expressed optimism that the relationship between the academic and non-teaching staff would continue to grow stronger.
