The Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) has commended the University of Ilorin on successfully hosting the Committee’s recent 37th Annual Conference and General Assembly.

The commendation was contained in a letter of appreciation dated September 9, 2026, addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and signed by the Secretary-General of the CVCNU, Prof. Haruna Andrew.

In the letter, Prof. Andrew expressed profound appreciation to the Vice Chancellor, the management, staff and the entire University of Ilorin community for their immense support, cooperation and hospitality towards the successful hosting of the Conference, which was held between August 17 and 20, 2026.

The CVCNU Secretary-General said that as the host institution, the University of Ilorin played a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the Conference, noting that the Vice Chancellor’s leadership, commitment and gracious support provided the enabling environment for the Conference to hold seamlessly.

Prof. Andrew added that the Committee was particularly grateful for the warmth and hospitality extended to distinguished guests and participants, as well as the various logistical and institutional support provided before and throughout the Conference.

He specifically appreciated the University for executing it’s earlier commitment to provide accommodation and airport pickup services for the representative of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and her entourage, as well as the Secretary-General of the Association of African Universities, describing it as a notable demonstration of the University’s generosity and commitment to the success of the gathering.

The CVCNU scribe further stated that the successful hosting of a gathering of that magnitude required substantial coordination, dedication and collaboration, and, therefore, commended the Chairperson of the Conference Local Organising Committee (LOC), who is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Moji Bakare-Odunola, for her excellent leadership and coordination throughout the Conference.

Prof. Andrew also appreciated the management of the University for its invaluable partnership and collective efforts in ensuring that the 37th Annual Conference and General Assembly became a memorable and impactful event.
