CIPM inaugurates UNILORIN Chapter

The Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Kwara State Branch, Mrs Azeezat Quadri Ibrahim, has inaugurated the University of Ilorin Chapter of the Institute with an Interim Executive Committee to steer its affairs for nine months, after which an election will be conducted to elect substantive executive committee members.
The ratification of the Interim Executive Committee and inauguration took place penultimate Thursday (September 10, 2026) at the University Auditorium Basement following a motion moved to that effect by Mr Oroge Adeoye, and seconded by Mrs Shade Feronica Aduloju.
The interim Executive Committee will be led by Mrs Toyin Temitope Adeoti as Chairman while Dr Peter Abogunrin will serve as the Vice Chairman. Others are Mrs Omowumi Azeez, Secretary; Mrs Omobukola Omotoye, Assistant Secretary and Public Relations Officer (PRO); Mr Kudus Na’Allah, Treasurer; Dr Jamiu Idowu Yahaya, Financial Secretary; Mr Moses Opaleke, Ex-Officio (Male); and Mrs Lateefat Sarumi, Ex-Officio (Female).
Earlier in her address, Mrs Ibrahim said that the establishment of the UNILORIN Chapter of the Institute was aimed at building a vibrant professional community of Human Resources practitioners within the University.
She encouraged the Chapter to contribute to improve institutional performance and staff capacity, while positioning the University as a model for professional Human Resources practice in the public sector.
The CIPM Chairman also urged the University Management to make CIPM certification a requirement for the promotion of Human Resources practitioners in the University, as she stressed the importance of professional certification in strengthening HR practice.
In a goodwill message, the Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, charged the new Chapter to remain active, professional and committed to its growth.with a view to attaining branch status in the nearest future.
Mr Alfanla described the approval and inauguration of the Chapter as a significant achievement for both the University and CIPM. He commended Mrs Ibrahim for making the University very proud through her activeness and commitment, as well as for her efforts in promoting the Institute and mobilising members of the University community to identify with the professional body.
The Registrar noted that the strong participation of University staff in CIPM activities demonstrated the institution’s commitment to professionalism and provided a solid foundation for the Chapter to thrive.
He urged members to hold regular meetings and participate actively in the Chapter’s programmes, stressing that its success would depend largely on their commitment and contributions.
Mr Alfanla pledged that the University Management would give appropriate consideration to the interests of CIPM members, particularly in the membership of relevant committees, while noting that professional affiliations would be recognised within the limits of existing University policies.
