AWAU, UNILORIN TV Board congratulate Egbewole on election into the IACL leadership

The Association of West Africa Universities(AWAU) and the UNILORIN Television Management Board have congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, on his election into the Executive Committee of the International Association of Constitutional Law, (IACL).
The election took place on July 8, 2026, during the IACL World Congress of Constitutional Law held at Externado University in Bogotá, Colombia.
In a statement signed by its Deputy Director of Administration, Dr M. A. Akanmu, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin, AWAU described the election as “a well-deserved recognition”, which reflects the confidence and esteem in which Prof. Egbewole is held by the international constitutional law community.
The Association noted that his scholarship and leadership have contributed meaningfully to strengthening constitutional discourse in Nigeria, across Africa, and beyond.
AWAU further highlighted Prof. Egbewole’s commitment to fostering scholarly collaboration and advancing constitutional governance on the continent. It specifically acknowledged his leadership in successfully hosting the Biennial Congress of the African Network of Constitutional Lawyers, ANCL, at the University of Ilorin, which provided a critical platform for dialogue on constitutionalism and governance in Africa.
The statement added that Prof. Egbewole has demonstrated exemplary leadership in academic excellence, institutional development, and the promotion of meaningful collaboration among universities and scholars across West Africa.
On his part, the Chairman of UNILORIN Television Management Board, Prof. Solomon Ikibe, also welcomed the election of Prof. Egbewole.
In a statement, Prof. Ikibe, who is also a former Head of the Department of the Performing Arts and Film Studies, University of Ilorin, described the development as not only a remarkable episode in the career of the Vice Chancellor but also a significant milestone in the annals of the University of Ilorin.
Prof. Ikibe said that the appointment would avail Prof. Egbewole additional opportunity to impact on the organisation and humanity at large.
The Chairman assured Prof. Egbewole of the support of the UNILORIN Television in making his tenure very successful.
