Amuda-Yusuf elected Dean of Envir. Sciences

A Professor at the Department of Quantity Surveying, University of Ilorin, Ganiyu Amuda-Yusuf, has emerged as the first elected Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences.
The election of Prof. Amuda-Yusuf took place last Wednesday (July 15, 2026) at the Boardroom of the Faculty.
The event, which attracted all the academic staff of the Faculty, was coordinated by a team from the University Registry led by a Senior Assistant Registrar, Mr Abdulkadir O. Kuranga, who served as the Returning Officer.
Having emerged as the only candidate nominated for the position and in compliance with the relevant laws of the University, Mr Kuranga declared Prof. Amuda-Yusuf as duly elected.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Amuda-Yusuf, who is also the first Professor from the Faculty, thanked his colleagues for the confidence they reposed in him.
The Dean-elect described the event as historic as it marked the first time that the Faculty would produce an elected Dean. He explained that all those who held the position in the past were not elected but appointed.
While calling for support, Prof. Amuda-Yusuf assured his colleagues and other staff members of the Faculty that he would run an open-door policy.
