Alaro makes NAHCON technical group’s list

A former Head of the Department of Islamic Law, University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulRazzaq Abdulmajeed Alaro, mni, has been appointed into a technical group constituted by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) that would provide spiritual guidance for pilgrims to this year’s Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.

Prof. Alaro, who is currently the Director of the Quality Assurance Unit of the University, is the only staff member of the better by far University in the 120 members group, which consists of highly respected Islamic scholars from all over Nigeria.

Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin on telephone, Prof. Alaro, who is also an alumnus of the University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, described his inclusion in the group as a privilege and opportunity for him to contribute to the spiritual growth of his compatriots participating in this year’s Hajj exercise.

The cleric-don said that members of the team were drawn from different parts of Nigeria to represent various tribes and languages in order to make communication and interaction with pilgrims easier.

Prof. Alaro said that the appointment would enable him to extend the quality service delivery, for which the University of Ilorin is renowned, to pilgrims, particularly those from Nigeria.

He thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and the management of the University for the opportunity given to him to serve his faith and the Nigerian nation in far away Saudi Arabia.
