Alapansanpa hails UNILORIN’s support for Ilorin Emirate Durbar

The Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee, Engr Suleiman Yahaya Alapansanpa, FNSE, has paid glowing tributes to the University of Ilorin for its support for the preservation of the cultural heritage of its host community, particularly the annual Ilorin Emirate Durbar.
Engr Alapansanpa gave this commendation last Thursday (May 21, 2026) while featuring on ‘Ko Tan Sibe’, a weekly entertainment programme of UNILORIN 89.3 FM. The programme was anchored by the Head of the Station, Mr Idris Akintola Ibrahim (Alooma).
He explained that apart from the institutional support offered by the University, some of its staff have also been playing one key role or the other towards ensuring the perfect organisation of the annual cultural show.
Engr Alapansanpa, who is also the Danmasani of Ilorin, specifically acknowledged the fascinating contributions of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ibrahim Jawondo, who, he said, has been competently serving as the Secretary of the Committee since its inception. He equally commended the patriotic role of a former Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, Prof. Aishatu Ahmed Gobir, who chairs the Sub-Committee on Health; and the Deputy Editor of UNILORIN Bulletin, Mr Abubakar Imam, who is the Chairman of the Publication Sub-Committee.
The Chairman added that many other members of the Committee are also alumni of the better by far University, a development, he noted, confirmed that the University has truly been producing socially responsive and responsible citizens.
Engr Alapansanpa, therefore, encouraged members of the University Community to troop out in large numbers to celebrate the festival with the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, and the people of the Ilorin Emirate on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the Baseball Park, Adewole, Ilorin, beginning from 9:00 a.m.
