Alafara honoured at home

The immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdullahi Alafara Baba, was penultimate Saturday September 12, 2026) honoured with an award by the Alore Central Development Association(ACDA), Ilorin, in recognition of his outstanding contributions, dedication, and services to the development of the community.
The event, which was held at Ansarul Islam Secondary School, Oloje, Ilorin, was presided-over over by the Danmasani of Ilorin, Engr Suleiman Yahaya Alapansanpa.
Presenting the Award to Prof. Alafara, Engr Alapansanpa described the renowned don as an hardworking and patriotic person.
Engr Alapansanpa, who is also the Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee, added that Prof. Alafara has left no one in doubt of his industry and integrity, which he encouraged others, particularly the younger ones, to emulate.
Responding, Prof. Alafara said that he felt highly honoured with the award as he thanked the Association for finding him worthy of being so honoured.
He assured members of the Association that he would continue to serve as a role-model to others as he also promised to continue to work with others to foster peace and progress of the community.
Prof. Alafara, who is currently on sabbatical at Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin, also thanked all those who attended the event for the honour accorded him and other honourees.
