Adam emerges new UNILORIN Student Union President

A student of the Department of Common Law, Mr Mozeed Adam, has been elected the new President of the University of Ilorin Student Union.
The election of Mr Adam was the highpoint of the just concluded elections conducted by Independent Students Electoral Commission last Wednesday (June 17, 2026).
To emerge as the new President, Mr Adam polled 14, 216 votes to defeat Mr Olamilekan Sodiq Ayanshina of the Department of Sociology who recorded 13, 222 votes.
For the post of Vice President (Permanent Site), Fathia Itunu Adeyemo of the Department of Arts Education won with 12, 603 votes, ahead of Fatihat Olamide Sulaiman of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, who secured 11, 800 votes. For the Office of Vice President (College), Joy Oluwatosin Adetayo of the Department of Nursing emerged unopposed with 1,810 votes.
In the General Secretary election, Oluwafemi Joseph Oguntunwase of the Telecommunication Science Department emerged victorious with 14, 299 votes to defeat Jamiu Raji Muhammed of the Faculty of Agriculture who polled 11, 779 votes.
The Assistant General Secretary election produced the closest contest as Mistura Olabisi Lukman of the Department of Adult and Primary Education secured 13, 032 votes, narrowly defeating Haleemat Wuraola Ajao of the Department of Science Education who scored 13,006 votes.
For the post of Financial Secretary, Abdulrahman Abolaji Muka of the Department of Economics won with 15, 113 votes, defeating Jamiu Oluwadamilola Saad of Marketing who secured 10, 835 votes.
In the Welfare Secretary (Permanent Site) election, Aminat Olohunwa Babaita of the Department of Library and Information Science emerged victorious with 13, 482 votes to defeat Abdulrasaq Omotolani Agboola of the Department of Religions who polled 10, 560 votes.
For Welfare Secretary (College of Health Sciences), Mubarakah Olanrewaju Oladejo of Medical Laboratory Science Department won with 1, 237 votes, ahead of Abdullah Olanrewaju Adiamo of the Department of Medicine who scored 1, 087 votes.
The post of Social Director was won by Idris Olaoye Abiola of the Department of Social Sciences Education with 13, 084 votes, narrowly defeating Kayode Samuel Olaiya of the Department of Civil Engineering who secured 12, 928 votes.
For Sports Secretary, Abdulhameed Kelechi Shittu of the Department of Civil Engineering emerged victorious with 14, 703 votes, defeating Tolulope Abraham Akano of the Department of Human Kinetics Education who polled 11, 316 votes.
The post of Public Relations Officer (PRO) went to Emmanuel Olamilekan Oluseye of the Department of Surveying and Geo-informatics who polled 15, 534 votes ahead of Adams Kanyinsola Idris of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering who scored 11, 257 votes.
Students across Faculties also elected their representatives into the Senate Council.
In the Faculty of Agriculture, Hamdalat Motunrayo Isiaka of Agriculture polled 1, 312 votes, Nihmat Oyindamola Aliyu of Home Economics and Food Science secured 1, 335 votes, while Awwal Olanrewaja Owodunni of Agriculture got 1, 046 votes to emerge Senators-Elect.
From the Faculty of Arts, Abdus Samad Akande Sulaiman of English and Literary Studies Department polled 1, 684 votes, Afeez Adewale Bilau of the Department of Religions secured 1, 520 votes, while Awawu Omolara Ibrahim of the Department of Performing and Film Arts scored 1, 479 votes.
In the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Olaoluwa Ezekiel Ibitoye of Anatomy polled 493 votes, Oluwafunmilayo Joy Adeyemo of Anatomy scored 474 votes, while Gideon Oluwagbemibori Ogo-Mamman of Physiology secured 447 votes.
From the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, Fawwaz Adedayo Salam of the Department of Physiotherapy polled 519 votes, Sheji Jimoh Hunkokoe of Medical Laboratory Science Department secured 503 votes, while Mariam Anike Olaiya of the Department of Physiotherapy scored 493 votes.
In the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (CIS), Sheu Olawale Olunloyo of Computer Science scored 1,203 votes, Maimunat Adebisi Shittu of Information Technology Department polled 1,179 votes, while Roqeeb Oluwaponmile Balogun of Mass Communication secured 974 votes.
From the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Adijat Damilola Ayodele of the Department of Nursing polled 617 votes, Abdulakeem Akolade Olanrewaju of the Department of Medicine secured 516 votes, while Sarafadeen Obashola Muritala also of the Depaetment of Medicine scored 450 votes.
The Faculty of Education produced Toheeb Adedolapo Sanni from the Department of Arts Education with 2, 526 votes, Damilola Ayomide Ogunsanya of the Department of Health Education with 2, 206 votes, and Abdulwaliu Adeboye Lamina of Social Sciences Education Department who secured 2,106 votes.
From the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Favour Ibironke Adeoti of the Department of Food Engineering scored 1,403 votes, Demilade Timothy Arisida of the Department of Civil Engineering polled 1,306 votes, while Boluwatife Oluwatosin Adio of the Department of Biomedical Engineering secured 1,108 votes.
The Faculty of Environmental Sciences elected Abdulqodri Olamilekan Haroon from the Department of Estate Management with 337 votes, Toheerah Opeyemi Abdulroheem of Surveying and Geo-informatics Department with 332 votes, and Joshua Amos of the Department of Architecture who scored 327 votes.
From the Faculty of Law, Abdulsamad O. Imam, who is a student of the Department of Common Law, polled 570 votes, Mubarak Olanrewaju Abdulraheem also of the same Department of Common Law secured 503 votes, while Azeemah Yewande Adedigba of the same Department also scored 492 votes.
From the Faculty of Life Sciences, Toheeb Olawale Otanipekun of the Department of Optometry and Vision Science secured 1,645 votes, Joy Ulo-Oma Umunakwe of the Department of Biochemistry polled 1,481 votes, while Israel Chukwuemeka Akalonu of Optometry and Vision Science Department scored 1, 237 votes.
The Faculty of Management Sciences elected Bolanle Racheal Rotimi of the Department of Marketing with 1, 596 votes, Ibrahim Olamilekan Kazeem of the Department of Business Administration with 1, 497 votes, and Tobiloba Rowland Adekunle of the Department of Public Administration who scored 1,431 votes.
From the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ameen Olalekan Alafara polled 438 votes, Faridat Olabisi Adebiyi secured 426 votes, while Justina Abisola Adewoye scored 323 votes.
The Faculty of Physical Sciences produced Ibrahim Adedayo Agboola of the Department of Mathematics with 744 votes, Emmanuel Oluwatofunmi Oni of the Department of Physics with 710 votes, and Lateefat Ahuoyiza Adeiza of the Department of Mathematics who scored 622 votes.
From the Faculty of Social Sciences, Damilare Olaoluwa of the Department of Political Science secured 1, 417 votes, Kamil Ishola Muhammad of the Department of Geography and Environmental Management polled 1, 236 votes, while Aliyah Mosunmola Nasirdeen of the Department of Social Work scored 1, 223 votes.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine elected Faruk Olanrewaju Anifowose with 323 votes, Victor Kehinde Odewusi with 307 votes, and Habeebah Ayomide Ameen who polled 273 votes.
The Hall Representatives elections also produced winners across students’ hostels.
For Lagos Male Hostel, Abdulquadir Olamilekan Ishaq of the Department of Arts Education emerged victorious after polling 377 votes to become the Hall Representative-Elect.
In Zamfara Hostel, Baleeqees Bolanle Aluko of the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages secured 320 votes to emerge Hall Representative-Elect.
For Abuja Hostel, Zainab Damilola Oniwa of Mechanical Engineering won with 214 votes, defeating Esther Favour Olayiwola of Educational Technology who polled 106 votes.
In Old College Female Hostel, Joy Taiye Oyerinola of the Department of Nursing emerged victorious with 181 votes, defeating Marvellous Opeyemi Adeleke of the Department of Physiology who secured 85 votes.
For Trunil Hostel, Victoria Olushola Olukunle of the Department of Political Science emerged winner after polling 94 votes, defeating Halima Omolola Alli of the Faculty of Agriculture who scored 46 votes.
At Old College Male Hostel, Saoban Babatunde Lawal of the Department of Physiology secured victory with 59 votes, defeating Ojocheghe Laurel Okoliko of the Department of Medicine who polled 30 votes.
For Veterinary Medicine Female Hostel, Precious Tolulope Adeyina emerged unopposed after polling 13 votes. Similarly, Hussein Kehinde Abdulkadir emerged unopposed in Veterinary Medicine Male Hostel after securing 10 votes.
Meanwhile, the management of the University of Ilorin has commended the stakeholders for ensuring that the elections were peacefully and transparently conducted.
Speaking last Thursday (June 18, 2026) shortly after the collation of results of the elections, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola, praised the students for demonstrating the values of good character for which the University is widely renowned.

Also speaking, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Alex Akanmu, commended all stakeholders involved in the exercise for ensuring a smooth and successful electoral process.
Dr Akanmu, while overseeing the final stages of result collation, urged students to return to their academic activities and prepare adequately for the forthcoming examinations, while appreciating all participants for their patience, cooperation, and commitment throughout the process.
