…Egbewole expresses joy

The Provost, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Biodun Sulyman Alabi, has been conferred with the prestigeous Fellowship of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine (FNAMeD).

Prof. Alabi, who is also the Chairman of the Committee of Provost and Deans (CoPD), University of Ilorin, was formally inducted into the Academy at an event, which took place in Abuja last Tuesday (September 9, 2025), along with some of his colleagues from all over Nigeria.

Apart from Prof. Alabi, a former Provost of the College, Prof. Wahab Johnson, was also inducted into the prestigious Academy.

The Fellowship represents the highest attainable professional honour that can be granted to distinguished medical scholars and practitioners in Nigeria and it is usually reserved for those who are truly outstanding in learning, research, practice and Character.

            Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, said that the  Fellowship Award was not only an honour for Prof. Alabi and Prof. Johnson but also for the University.

            In a statement signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that he and the entire members of the University community received the news with utmost happiness.

Prof. Egbewole added that the honour could not have come at a better time than now when the University is preparing to mark its Golden Jubilee.

The Vice Chancellor said that it is awards like this that were earned by several staff, students and alumni of the University over the years that are making the University far better than its peers.

Prof. Egbewole congratulated the Provost who is equally the Chairman of the Association of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria (APCOM) as he explained that Prof. Alabi deserves the honour considering his numerous accomplishments and contributions to the growth and development of medical science and practise in Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor also congratulated Prof. Johnson for remaining highly resourceful, exciting and useful even after retirement from  active service.

Prof. Egbewole wished the duo and others  more success in their professional endeavours
