Brief Profile of the Head of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development
Dr. Olufemi BOLARIN is a Senior Lecturer and currently the Ag. Head of Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin.
He holds B. Agriculture from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, Msc. Agricultural Communication from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria and Ph.D in Agricultural Extension from the University of Ilorin.
Dr. Bolarin possesses a Graduate Certificate in Computer Studies from the Federal University of Technology Owerri as well as a Certificate in Research Methodology from Institute of Development Studies, Gaborone, Botswana.
Dr. Bolarin is a PRA|PLA Practitioner and a strong advocate on utilization of Participatory Vulnerability Analysis (PVA) among the Poorest of the Poor and the Vulnerable in Rural Communities for Pro-Poor Development.
Dr. Bolarin has worked extensively with International Development Partners such as Actionaid International, Capacity Building for Decentralized Development (CBDD) sponsored by DFID and has attended Training of Trainer’s Courses on Project Management, Participatory Monitory and Evaluation and Setting Agenda for Commercializing Livestock and Diary Commodity Value Chain in Nigeria. He is currently the National Coordinator of International Conferences on Africa Indigenous Stimulants (ICAIS).
Dr. Bolarin attended the Gulfood Manufacturing Hosted BuyersProgrammes held in Dubai World Trade Centre, also the 5th Nigeria Development and Finance Forum (NDFF) at Westin New York Grand Central Hotel, New York City, USA and a member of Sustainable Land use Management by Country Pilot Partnership at Windhoek, Namibia as well as a member of Climate Change Adaptation Centre Conferences Queensland, Australia.
Dr. Bolarin was appointed as the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture by Kogi State Government from 2012-2014 and was appointed the Kogi State Consultant on Vietnamese Rice Development Project.
Dr. Bolarin has published many articles in Journals, books, edited Conference Proceedings and abstracts. His personal interests include motivational speaking and Strategic Planning for Community Development.
