Chaplain tasks graduating students on life after school

By Isaac Lewu

The Chaplain of the Chapel of the Light, University of Ilorin, Rev. E.S. Alasan, has urged graduating students of the University to carry the light of Christ into the next phase of their lives as he emphasised the need for them to remain rooted in godly values as they transition into the world beyond the campus.

Rev. Alasan gave this charge penultimate Saturday (July 12, 2025) at the Feast of Lights Dinner organised by the Chapel in conjunction with the UNILORIN Christian Union in honour of the 2024/2025 final year students.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Emeranda Global Investment, Mr Tiamiyu Anthony Taofik, expressed delight at the impressive turnout and lauded the organisers for curating a dinner that was not only celebratory in nature but also deeply spiritual.

Mr Taofik reminded the students that true success is not measured by wealth or status, but by the lasting impact one makes through integrity, service, and godliness. “Let the world see Christ through your actions, choices, and lifestyle,” he said, encouraging them to stay connected to God as their ultimate source of strength and direction.

In his remarks, the event’s Coordinator, Mr Eseyin Joseph, explained that the dinner was themed Feast of Lights to reflect the influence the graduating students are expected to have on the society.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to students who distinguished themselves in various capacities within the Fellowship and across the University.

Guests were also treated to spoken word performances, musical ministrations by talented student artists, and moving testimonials from some of the final year students who shared stories of their growth, transformation, and walk with God during their time in school.
