A former Head of the Department of Accounting, University of Ilorin, Prof. Khadijat Adenola Yahaya, has been inaugurated as the 6th Coordinator of the Kwara State Chapter of the Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT).
The event, attracted eminent accountants and academics as well as other dignitaries from all walks of life.
The Kwara State Governor, represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nuru, charged Prof. Yahaya and other members of the new Executive Committee of Kwara State SWIT to lead the Society with integrity and competence.
He explained that leadership is not just about the occupation of positions but a call to service to the nation and humanity.
Inaugurating Prof. Yahaya and other EXCO Members, the National Chairperson of SWIT, Dr Caroline M. Ndubusi, challenged the new Coordinator and her colleagues to take Kwara SWIT to the next level.
In her acceptance speech, Prof. Yahaya thanked all the members of Kwara SWIT for considering her worthy of leading the body at this point in time.
Prof. Yahaya promised to reinvigorate the Society for better service delivery and embark on more professional training in order to generate more membership for the Society.
The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, who was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Taiwo Azeez Olaniyi; the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin; Prof. Medinat Folorunso Salman; the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Lanre O. Olaitan; and a former Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Lasiele Alabi Yahaya.
Also in attendance were the Director, Centre for Linguistics Immersion, Prof. Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf; the Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, Mrs Shade Omoniyi and the Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Mrs Azeezat Q. Ibrahim, among others.
