
Elelu delivers 283rd Inaugural Lecture Thursday

The Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT) in Nigeria has honoured a former Head of the Department of Accounting, University of Ilorin, Prof. Khadijat Adenola Yahaya, with the “Distinguished Female Tax Administrator and Role Model” award. SWIT is the female wing of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
The award was conferred on Prof. Yahaya at this year’s edition of Tax Summit, which took place in Abuja last Tuesday (May 27, 2025) in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the study and practice of taxation in Nigeria.
Prof. Yahaya, who is the immediate past Chairman of the Ilorin District and Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), was represented at the event by her daughter, who is also a graduate of the Department of Accounting, University of Ilorin, Miss Halima Modupe Yahaya.
Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin on the award, Prof. Yahaya expressed her profound gratitude to SWIT for the honour done to her, which, she said, she would never take for granted.
Prof. Yahaya, who is the current Vice Coordinator of the Kwara State Chapter of SWIT, thanked the authorities of the University of Ilorin for the privilege given her to associate with relevant professional bodies within and outside the University. She promised to continue to deploy all her resources towards deepening the greatness of the University of Ilorin.
