The Director, Centre for Advancement, University of Ilorin, Prof. Waheed Babatunde Yahya, has said that the management and staff of the Centre would work with relevant stakeholders to leverage the experience garnered before and during the just-concluded Golden Jubilee of the University to stimulate more alumni and friends towards supporting the University.

Prof. Yahya made this remarks last Wednesday (December 3, 2025) in a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin in his office.

He explained that his Centre is now more prepared than ever to ensure that more support is attracted to the University for it to achieve its desire of being the best in Nigeria, one of the leading ten universities in Africa, and among the 500 most outstanding at the global level.

Prof. Yahya, who served as the Chairman of the Alumni Day Sub-Committee of the Anniversary, said that it is clear that many alumni of the University are willing to give back to the institution towards ensuring its greatness.

The Director said that the way several alumni responded to the invitation of the University at every stage of the anniversary showed that the University is blessed with patriots who meant well for the institution.

Prof. Yahya congratulated the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and staff, as well as students of the University, for a very successful 50th anniversary.

He said that the anniversary went a long way in advertising the University to the rest of the country and beyond as a leading citadel of learning which also has the prospect of being far better than it is.
