We are proud of our relationship with UNILORIN, IEDPU President declares

The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has affirmed the good relationship between the University and its host community.
Alhaji Abdulmalik stated this last Thursday (February 26, 2026) while featuring on “Kotansibe”, a popular current affairs programme of UNILORIN 89.3 FM. The programme was anchored by the Head of the Station, Mr Idris Alooma.
The community leader, who is also an alumnus of the University, recalled the roles played by the Union and other notable leaders across the old Kwara State in influencing the Federal Government to establish the institution.
Alhaji Abdulmalik added that the people of the Ilorin Emirate always feel blessed with the location of the University in their domains, saying that its existence has been of tremendous blessing.
He added that the community is always interested in happenings in the University because of the role the institution plays in the overall development of the Ilorin Emirate.
While noting that the Union had played significant role in attracting development to the University, particularly since the tenure of the sixth Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, Alhaji Abdulmalik assured the University management that the Union would continue to encourage indigenes and friends of the Ilorin Emirate to invest more in the University in order to accelerate its development.
Alhaji Abdulmalik also pointed out that the Union not only participated in the recent Golden Jubilee of the University but also encouraged indigenes of Ilorin Emirate within and outside the University to play prominent roles during the anniversary.
He commended the efforts of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for his quality leadership, which he said is impacting positively on the University.
Alhaji Abdulmalik wished the University a more peaceful and rewarding existence.
