Some 400 Level students of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, have commended the management and staff of the Faculty for the quality of academic and practical training they are exposed to.

The students, Mr Joseph Akimpelu, Mr Daniel Elisha, Mr Samuel Jegede and Mr Idowu Taiwo, stated this last Tuesday (February 17, 2026) in a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin.

The students who were found marketing harvested vegetables to members of the University Community near the Old Motor Park, said that they are being properly groomed to become not only successful Agriculturists but also impactful Agricultural Entrepreneurs.

They explained that the quality of practical knowledge and marketing skills inculcated in them have been encouraging them towards embracing farming and attendant marketing of farm produce after graduation.

Speaking on the process involved in cultivating the produce, the students said that they were allocated plots on the campus and given seedlings and tillers which encouraged cultivation.

They added that apart from vegetables, they also cultivate and sell spinach and okro, among others, explaining that the cultivation depended mainly on water and pure organic manure.

They commended the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Isreal Ogunlade and other Faculty members for the support they receive, saying that since its commencement, the course, crop production Technique (AGRIC 407) has opened their eyes to farming.

On the level of patronage attracted by their produce from members of the University Community, they said that it has been very encouraging.

While thanking staff and students who have been patronising them, the students encouraged other Unilorites to follow suite, saying that they can never find the produce cheaper elsewhere.
