The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and two other distinguished academics of the University have been honoured with the prestigious Fellowships of the Operations Research Institute for Decision Sciences and Analysis of Nigeria (ORIDSAN).
The awards were conferred on the trio during the 2025 International (Hybrid) Conference on Operations Research and Globalisation, held last Tuesday (November 4, 2025) at the University Auditorium, and hosted by the Ilorin Business School.
While Prof. Egbewole received an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to academic development, the Director of the Computer-Based Test Centre, Prof. Kamilu Rauf, and the immediate past Sub-Dean (Student Affairs), Dr Mohammed Kabir Garba, were decorated with the Fellowship Award of the Institute for their contributions to scholarship, service, and University advancement.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Prof. Egbewole appreciated the Institute for the Fellowship award, emphasising the University’s readiness to support global trends that improve scholarship and professional practice.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola, the Vice Chancellor, who expressed appreciation to the international collaborators and ORIDSAN, urged members of the Institute to be vanguards of change globally as the trend moves towards data applications and digitisation.
Speaking on the awards, the President of ORIDSAN, Dr Umar Muhammad Modibbo, commended the honourees for their commitment to advancing research and Decision Sciences, noting that the awards reflect excellence, dedication, and impactful scholarly contributions.
Dr Modibbo said that the Institute would continue to partner with academic institutions like the University of Ilorin to promote data-driven innovation and national development.
In his remarks, the Registrar of ORIDSAN, Dr Joseph Olusegun David, congratulated the recipients and applauded the University for providing an enabling environment that nurtures academic excellence and professional growth.
He encouraged the awardees to sustain their commitment to research excellence and to continue contributing to the development of the nation through knowledge and service.
