The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has commended members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) within the University, describing their contributions to the continued successes of the institution as both remarkable and enduring.
Prof. Egbewole gave the commendation last Wednesday (April 30, 2025) while receiving members of a delegation of the Kwara State Chapter of CIPM who visited him in his office ahead of the Institute’s Annual General Meeting held at the University of Ilorin.
The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Muhtar Adeiza Etudaiye, noted that the presence and impact of CIPM members have significantly enhanced the University’s administrative excellence.
He pointed out that the partnership between the University and CIPM is longstanding and deeply rooted in shared values such as excellence, accountability, and continuous professional development, adding that this relationship has continued to thrive over the years, bringing mutual benefits to both institutions.
While reaffirming the University’s support, the Vice Chancellor noted the institution’s commitment to fostering an environment that encourages capacity building, professional growth, and strategic collaborations. He said that the University believes in the mission of the CIPM and remains proud to be part of its ongoing journey.
Speaking earlier, the Group Head of Human Resources Management (HRM), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olaniyi, expressed appreciation to the University of Ilorin for its long-standing support of the Institute and called for the continuation of the mutually beneficial partnership.
Mrs. Olaniyi, who reiterated the Institute’s vision to professionalise the human resources function across all sectors, mentioned the critical role institutions like the University of Ilorin play in achieving that goal. She noted that many staff members of the University are already members of CIPM, which reflects the institution’s commitment to best practices in personnel management.
The Group’s HRM further underscored the fruitful collaboration between the Institute and the Department of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management of the University. According to her, the Department has been instrumental in facilitating the partnership through academic support and the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). She explained that the MoU enables graduates of the Department to automatically qualify as certified members of CIPM upon graduation.
Mrs. Olaniyi also used the occasion to inform the University management of the upcoming International Conference organised by the CIPM. She appealed to the leadership of the institution to sponsor interested staff members to attend, noting that the conference offers immense learning opportunities and exposure to global trends in human resources and organisational development.
