US firm donates books to UNILORIN LIS Dept

An American publisher, Householder Books, has donated 20 different children books to the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Ilorin.

Presenting the books on behalf of the firm last Wednesday(November 19, 2025), a lecturer at the Department, Dr Oluyemisi Olubukola Ajayi, said that the books were donated to encourage learning among youngsters who would be visiting the Department from time to time.

Dr Ajayi, who facilitated the donation, said that the support was also done in honour of Mr Jacob Aina Ajayi.

She explained that the firm was further encouraged to donate the books based on its conviction that it would enhance service delivery and also eradicate ignorance and illiteracy.

Receiving the books, the Head of the Department, Dr Musediq Tunji Bashorun, thanked the donor and the facilitator for the gesture.

Dr Bashorun, who is an Associate Professor at the Department, assured the donor and Dr Ajayi that the books would be appropriately deployed for the purpose they were donated.
