
Elelu delivers 283rd Inaugural Lecture Thursday

The University of Ilorin has won seven medals at the just-concluded Nigerian Universities Sports Association Games (NUSSA), hosted by the Bayero University, Kano.
The games, which attracted the participation of academic and non-teaching staff from over 50 universities across the country, took place between Wednesday, May 21 and Saturday May 31, 2025.
The immediate past Director of Sports of the University, Prof. Olufunmilola Leah Dominic, won a gold medal in female squash as she also won a bronze in the traditional Ayo game.
The University female Basketball team, which was captained by Prof. Dominic, also won a silver medal at the end of the competition.
Dr David Jimoh Kayode of the Department of Educational Management won a bronze medal in the male category of those who participated in Ayo as Mrs Funmilayo Abdulrasaq of the Security Division also won a bronze medal in the 100m female race..
In Badminton, the duo of Coach Suleiman Tajudeen Ayodele and AbdulHafees AbduRaheem won a silver medal in men double for the nation’s most sought after University, while in men single badminton, Mr AbdulHafees AbduRaheem won a bronze medal.
Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin, the University’s Director of Sports, Prof. Tajudeen Olanrewaju Ibraheem, who led the contingent to Kano, commended members of the contingent for giving a good account of themselves throughout.
Prof. Ibraheem added that he was very impressed that members of the contingent conducted themselves with decency.
The Director explained that the UNILORIN team participated in nine different events at the game, which included Football men, Basketball male and female and Volleyball (men).
Others, according to Prof. Ibraheem, are Badminton (men),Table Tennis (men), Scrabble (men), Ayo (men) Squash (male and female) and Athletics(Track and Field events).
Prof. Ibraheem thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for the support he gave the contingent before, during and after the games.
