UNILORIN, SIMI partner on knowledge-driven national security solution

 

Last Friday, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, was hosted by the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) at a meeting, in Abuja, to deepen talks on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University’s Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS) and the Strategic Intelligence Management Institute (SIMI), an agency of NIA.

The meeting came on the heels of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed recently between SIMI and CPSS on co-creation of knowledge through research, and training leading to the award of MA in Strategic Intelligence & Global Security for participants of SIMI.  The MoU, signed on December 8, 2025, marks a transformative shift that is consistent with the character of the transformational leadership of the two institutions.

During the visit, Prof. Egbewole, who was accompanied by the Director of the CPSS, Prof. Animasawun, commended Ambassador Mohammed for his knowledge-driven, disciplined and impactful leadership.

On his part, Ambassador Mohammed also lauded the consistency of UNILORIN in producing high quality graduates, a validation of its better by Far appellation.

The NIA DG also described the SIMI Provost, Ambassador Jadesola Adesuyi, as a “goal getter”, ,given the landmark achievements that SIMI has recorded under her leadership.
