UNILORIN signs affiliation MoUs with KwaraPoly, TPA, others

The University of Ilorin has expanded its academic partnerships with tertiary institutions across Nigeria following the formal signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with five institutions covering the establishment of new Bachelor’s degree and Diploma programmes.
The agreements, which were concluded last Tuesday (December 30, 2025) at the Vice Chancellor’s Committee Room, were witnessed by the University’s Principal Officers and delegations from the partner institutions.
The institutions entering into affiliation with UNILORIN include the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin; The Polytechnic, Aran-Orin; Imam Malik College (IMC), Ibadan; Dalul Khayr Centre for Arts and Islamic Sciences (DKHCAIS), Ibadan; and the Ansar-ud-Deen College of Education (ADCOED), Isolo, Lagos State.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, implored all the new accredited institutions not to see the affiliation as merely an administrative process but a serious academic commitment that requires strict adherence to the University’s quality assurance standards.
Prof. Egbewole noted that graduates who complete their studies under the affiliated programmes will receive University of Ilorin certificates, and as such must be thoroughly trained to reflect the institution’s values. He said that all affiliated institutions must ensure that their students meet the University’s expectations of excellence and remain worthy in both character and learning.
The Vice Chancellor further stated that the University of Ilorin would continue to heighten its oversight functions, including regular monitoring, evaluation, and resource verification exercises, to maintain uniform academic standards across all affiliated institutions.
On his part, the Director of the Centre for Affiliated Institutions, University of Ilorin, Prof. Yahya Oyewole Imam, commended the diligence, patience, and commitment demonstrated by the management teams of all partner institutions throughout the affiliation process.
He noted that the journey to securing affiliation is often rigorous and demanding because it requires institutions to upgrade facilities, strengthen staffing, and align their academic structures with the University’s regulatory framework.
The Director, however, expressed confidence that the newly formalised partnerships would deliver long-term academic value, enhance teaching and learning, and further deepen the capacity of higher education institutions across Kwara, Oyo, and Lagos States.
According to Prof. Imam, the collaboration signifies the University’s dedication to supporting national development by ensuring that more Nigerians have access to credible and globally competitive degree programmes, adding that, the Centre for Affiliated Institutions will continue to provide guidance, support, and quality assurance to uphold the standards for which the University of Ilorin is widely recognised.
Kwara State Polytechnic received approval to run nine Bachelor’s degree programmes. These are Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural and Bio-Systems Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, and Sociology.
Similarly, The Polytechnic, Aran-Orin (TPA), a private institution in Kwara State, secured affiliation to run four Bachelor’s degree programmes in Business Administration, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and Statistics.
In Oyo State, Imam Malik College (IMC), Ibadan, obtained approval for affiliation with UNILORIN to offer a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies.
Also in Ibadan, the Daalul Khayr Centre for Arts and Islamic Sciences (DKHCAIS) entered into an MoU with UNILORIN for the affiliation of its Diploma in Arabic and Islamic Studies programme.
Ansar-ud-Deen College of Education (ADCOED), Isolo, Lagos, formalised its request for affiliation and received approval to run nine Bachelor’s degree programmes in Biology Education, Educational Management, Computer Science Education, Economics Education, English Language Education, Islamic Studies Education, Arabic Language Education, Social Studies Education, and Mathematics Education.
