A leading global provider of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, Huawei Technologies Ltd., has expressed its interest to help improve the digital infrastructure of the University of Ilorin.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of CBC Ltd., an international partner of Huawei, Dr Foluso Faleye, stated this last Tuesday (September 9, 2025) while leading a team of Huawei representatives on a visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN. He noted that Huawei is committed to making UNILORIN a reference point for other universities in Nigeria.
Dr Falaye, joined by Huawei representatives, Mr Olayemi Joseph, a Senior Solutions Architect, and Mr Israel Ojogbe, an IP Network Solutions Engineer, disclosed that the planned interventions will be rolled out in phases.
In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Egbewole, welcomed the proposed partnership and pledged the University’s support. He specifically requested that improving internet access be prioritised in the first phase of the project.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director of Computer Services and Information Technology (COMSIT), Prof. Rasheed Jimoh, had commended the Vice Chancellor’s commitment to digitalisation and improving the University’s digital infrastructure.
