The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has expressed the readiness of the University to work with the government of Tunisia and two Tunisian universities for mutual benefits.
Prof. Egbewole gave this assurance last Wednesday (May 7, 2025) when he led a delegation of the University Management on a working visit to the North African country.
In the course of the visit, the Vice Chancellor held fruitful discussions with the General-Director of the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr Mourad Bellassoued; and the President of the University of Carthage, Prof. Nadia Mzoughi Aguri, as well as the Vice President for Scientific Research, Technological Development and Environmental Partnership of the University of Tunis, El-Mahar, Prof. Asma Gati.
Prof. Egbewole said that the University of Ilorin was willing to explore staff and student exchange and mobility, joint publications and joint supervision of postgraduate students and other forms of collaboration between UNILORIN and the two leading Tunisian universities.
He expressed the conviction of the University of Ilorin that the exchange programme would not only expose students and staff to other perspectives but would also promote the internationalisation efforts of the partnering institutions for mutual benefits and general cooperation between Nigeria and Tunisia. Prof. Egbewole, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole; and the Director, Centre for International Education (CIE), Prof. Lateef Onireti Ibraheem.
