The Chairman of the University of Ilorin Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Tijani Adewoyin, has commended the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Production Services and Rural Development, Mallam Saliu Mustapha; and a topnotch of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Dr Abdulkadir Tunji Nagode, as well as a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Rukayat Shittu, for their financial support to the Chapel.
Mr Adewoyin gave this commendation last Tuesday (September 9, 2025) in a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin on the sideline of the Chapel’s maiden workshop, which was held at the University Auditorium Basement.
The Chairman explained that without the generous support of the two gentlemen and the lady the two-day workshop would not have been as successful as it was.
He added that the interventions of Senetor Mustapha, Dr Nagode and Hon. Shittu have again brought to the fore the need for the gown and town to always cooperate with each other, saying that no government can do everything for its academic institutions.
Mr Adewoyin said that the donations received by his Chapel from Senator Mustapha, Dr Nagode and Hon. Shittu, respectively, enabled it to hold the event as scheduled.
While thanking Senator Mustapha, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin and Dr Nagode, who also holds the traditional title of Dan Amana Gari of Ilorin, as well as Hon. Shittu, the Chairman enjoined the trio to continue to assist the Chapel for better service delivery.
Mr Adewoyin, who also thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the two facilitators and all others who attended the workshop, appealed to other well-meaning individuals to always assist the Union and its likes to enable them discharge their responsibilities satisfactorily to their members and the larger society.
