The Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) Foundation School, University of Ilorin, has opened up new avenues for students seeking admission into the institution and other universities in Nigeria and abroad.
The JUPEB Director, Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam, disclosed this last Tuesday (April 8, 2025) while participating on a popular Yoruba programme on UNILORIN FM, titled “Oro to n lo,” anchored by the Station Manager, Mr Idris Alooma.
Prof. Adam stated that students who pass their final exams will have opportunities to gain admission into the University of Ilorin and other institutions globally.
Prof. Adam said that the JUPEB result is not only recognised nationally but also internationally, providing students with a wide range of opportunities to pursue their academic goals. The result is also valid for three years, similar to an Ordinary Level result, giving students ample time to explore their options. He said, “This recognition, combined with the other benefits of the programme, makes JUPEB an attractive option for students.”
The Director pointed out that the JUPEB programme offers several benefits to students, including a conducive learning environment, experienced lecturers, and excellent security measures. He said that students are taught by the same lecturers who will be teaching them in their undergraduate studies, providing them with a sense of familiarity and comfort. He further stressed that Unilorin JUPEB students have access to all courses available for first-degree programs, giving them a comprehensive education.
Prof. Adam advised parents and prospective students to be cautious of fake JUPEB centres that may be impersonating the University of Ilorin.
He said that the basic requirement for admission into the JUPEB programme is five O-level subjects relevant to the candidate’s course of study. “By being aware of these requirements and the benefits of the programme, students can make informed decisions about their academic futures”, he said.
Prof. Adam disclosed that under his leadership, the JUPEB programme has experienced significant growth, with the number of students increasing from 267 at inception to 645. He explained that the target of the programme is to enroll even more students, leveraging the excellent facilities available at the University of Ilorin.
The Director noted that this growth is a testament to the popularity of the programme and the commitment of the University to providing quality education.
